Description & Use:
Premium quality natural kiln dried, in the colour of the Outback desert
Colourfast and suitable for use underwater, however we would recommend that the sand is washed before final use.
Merchandising:
The sand's dry and clean nature makes it ideal for corporate and merchandising displays to invoke a desert-like environment. The sand is non static and can be creatively "drifted" to form shadows when used for photographic assignments.
Scale Models:
It is difficult to absolutely scale natural sands. To model beach, river or desert sand at HO scale requires a grain size similar to clay minerals at around five microns.
Considering both availability and convenience for working, the finest grain size of modelling sand is in a size range of 0.1 to 0.3mm ( 100 to 300 microns).
Our Outback Terracotta Sand is unique in that it is "through graded" ie it has grain sizes in a range of 0.1mm to 0.7mm (100 to 700micron)
