Conch Shells in History: In Mayan art large conch shells were used as paint and ink holders for scribes, as bugles and hand weapons.

Ecological Note: A close relative of our pink spider, The Caribbean Queen Conch (Strombus gigas) is an endangered species. These shells are often sold whole or as jewelry to tourists but constitute one of the most frequently confiscated items by UK customs. Please do not be tempted to purchase them whilst on holiday.

Safety Considerations:
Whilst this natural sea shell is considered to be harmless, it is not suitable for children under 36 months due to either shape, small particle size, or the possibility of breakage.
